Bio: Michael, a Mercer Island product, played in 24 games (12 starts) for the University of Washington this spring and posted a .275 batting average. He had 14 hits in 51 official at-bats and scored 12 runs and drove in an equal number of talliesfor the Huskies. He achieved a .431 on-base percentage and made just one error in 61 chances behind the plate – a .984 percentage. UW ended the season with a winning overall mark of 28-24. Michael wa named the KingCo League’s Most Valuable Player and earned all-state honors in 2016, his senior year of high school, after hitting .405 (32 hits) with 15 runs batted in. He helped lead the Islanders to the Class 3A state title his junior year when he hit .342 and was named first-team all-state. He hit .339 in his sophomore campaign.
