SALEM, Ore. (August 5, 2026) – The regular season came to a close Wednesday night for the Walla Walla Sweets, but the summer is not finished yet.

Bo Stinson drove in both Walla Walla runs, Donavan Jackson turned in a strong debut out of the bullpen, and the Sweets wrapped up their final regular season series with a 7-2 loss to the Marion Berries at Chemeketa Baseball Field.

The result closed the regular season for Walla Walla, which now turns its attention to the West Coast League Playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Marion jumped ahead early with one run in the first inning and four more in the second. The Berries built a 5-0 lead through two innings, but the Sweets’ bullpen helped keep the game within reach through the middle frames.

Jackson made his Sweets debut in the second inning and gave Walla Walla a strong first look. The right-hander worked 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing only three hits while striking out three.

He entered with the Sweets facing an early deficit and helped settle the game down, holding Marion off the board from the third through the sixth inning.

The Sweets broke through in the seventh.

Stinson led off the inning by sending a solo home run to left center field, getting Walla Walla on the board. The homer was Stinson’s fifth of the summer and continued his strong power surge over the final month of the regular season.

Marion added two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Walla Walla answered again in the eighth.

Gaines Haussin singled and later came around to score when Stinson lined an RBI single into center field. The hit gave Stinson both Walla Walla RBIs on the night.

Stinson finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a walk, reaching base three times in the regular season finale.

Haussin added two hits and scored once, while Ronan Scoffield also had a multi-hit night. Scoffield went 2-for-4 and recorded his first extra-base hit of the summer with a double in the eighth inning.

Sam Kane added a hit, and Keagan Kelly worked a walk as Walla Walla finished with seven hits as a team.

On the mound, Duncan Bos made the start for the Sweets and worked into the second inning before Jackson took over.

Jack Gripentrog struck out three in one inning of relief, giving him another swing-and-miss appearance in the final week of the regular season. Jackson Wendt handled the eighth inning, allowing one hit while striking out one.

The Sweets pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts, and the defense turned a double play behind the group.

Although Wednesday’s result was not the finish Walla Walla wanted to the regular season, the bigger picture remains ahead. The Sweets will now return home to Borleske Stadium for playoff baseball for the first time in seven years.

Walla Walla enters the WCL Divisional Series as the No. 3 seed and will open a best-of-three matchup against the No. 2 seed Corvallis Knights on Friday, August 7. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 6:35 p.m. at Borleske Stadium.
