WALLA WALLA, Wash. (July 29, 2026) – The Walla Walla Sweets closed their two-game non-league set with one of their cleanest all-around performances of the summer Wednesday night at Borleske Stadium.

Cole Rogers and Jackson Wendt both homered, Blake Moore turned in his best outing of the season and the Sweets blanked the Northwest Star Nighthawks 13-0 in seven innings.

The victory gave Walla Walla back-to-back wins over Northwest Star after Tuesday’s 12-4 comeback victory.

The Sweets jumped ahead in the bottom of the first. Rogers reached and later scored on a balk before Kyler Bittner lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing Ronan Scoffield home and giving Walla Walla a 2-0 lead.

Moore took over from there on the mound.

The left-hander worked four scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six. He kept Northwest Star off the board throughout his outing and set the tone for a strong night from the pitching staff.

Walla Walla broke the game open in the third.

Ethan Buckley and Bittner reached ahead of Logan Nakamura, who drove a two-run triple into right field. Nakamura later came home on a wild pitch, stretching the lead to 5-0.

The inning continued with Keagan Kelly and Austin Owens reaching base for Rogers, who launched a three-run home run to make it 8-0.

The homer was Rogers’ second in his last three games and continued a strong week for the Sweets outfielder.

Wendt added another big swing in the fourth, sending his first home run of the summer over the fence to push the lead to 9-0.

Later in the inning, Buckley and Nakamura reached before Owens lined an RBI single into left field, scoring Buckley and making it 10-0.

The Sweets added three more runs in the fifth. Scoffield reached and scored on an RBI single from Wendt. Bittner came home when Nakamura put the ball in play, and Wendt later scored on a sacrifice fly from Bo Stinson to create the final 13-0 margin.

Buckley led the offense with a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Nakamura finished 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored. Rogers went 1-for-3 with the three-run homer, two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Wendt added two hits, including his first home run of the summer, while driving in two runs and scoring twice. Scoffield went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases, and Bittner finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Kelly added a hit, a walk and a run scored, while Owens reached three times with a hit, two walks, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Walla Walla finished with 13 runs on 14 hits, drew eight walks and did not strike out. The Sweets also stole four bases and scored in four of their six offensive innings.

On the mound, Moore started the shutout before Nolan Soderstrom and Jacob Kanaly made their Sweets debuts.

Soderstrom followed Moore with two scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and not issuing a walk.

Kanaly handled the seventh, striking out one and working around a hit batter to close the game.

Moore, Soderstrom, and Kanaly combined to hold Northwest Star to five hits while striking out seven. The Sweets also played error-free defense behind the staff.

The win wrapped up Walla Walla’s non-league set and gave the Sweets 25 runs across the two games.

Walla Walla will take Thursday off before continuing the homestand Friday, July 31, against the Portland Pickles. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Borleske Stadium.
