Torres’ Grand Slam Sparks Sweets to Series Win
Young drives in five, Kane extends hit streak and Walla Walla erupts for 16 runs in Thursday’s finale

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (June 25, 2026) – The Walla Walla Sweets brought the fireworks early and kept adding on all night Thursday at Borleske Stadium.

Walla Walla came out swinging in the bottom of the first.

The offense added two more runs in the second. Tse and Reeser reached base before Kane brought home one run on a fielder’s choice. Young followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Reeser and stretching the lead to 7-1.
Springfield pulled within one during the third, but Walla Walla continued to find answers. Kane reached and scored on an RBI single from Young in the fourth, putting the Sweets back ahead by two.
After the game was tied at 8-8 in the top of the fifth, Walla Walla delivered another big response in the bottom half.
Tse and Reeser reached before Hale and Kane helped keep the inning moving. Young put the ball in play and brought home two runs after an error, giving the Sweets the lead once again. Torres followed with a two-run single to center field and later scored on a wild pitch, capping a five-run inning and pushing Walla Walla ahead 13-8.
The Sweets continued to add insurance late.

Young matched Torres with a three-hit night of his own, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored. He has now recorded three hits in back-to-back games since returning from injury.
