Arms from Across the West Take the Mound in 2026
Four right-handed pitchers from across the West are welcomed to the Sweets roster

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A group of four right-handed pitchers from across the West in Ryan Cheeseman, Easton Corey, Tyler Smith, and Dylan Torres are set for West Coast League action in 2026.
Cheeseman, a sophomore right-handed pitcher at Skagit Valley College, brings local ties to the roster as a native of Stanwood, Washington. A graduate of Stanwood High School, Cheeseman credits his grandfather for introducing him to the game and is looking forward to experiencing a new environment this summer.
“My grandfather is the one who got me into baseball, and I’ve been playing ever since I was four,” Cheeseman said. “I’m excited to live in a different area and meet a bunch of new guys.”
Corey’s path to the Sweets has taken him across multiple levels of college baseball. The Pendleton, Oregon native began his career at Oregon State before transferring to Linn-Benton Community College, where he helped lead the program to back-to-back NWAC championships. Now a junior at Eastern Oregon University, Corey is transitioning into a starting role and looks forward to playing for a team he grew up watching.
“I grew up watching the Sweets, so it’s going to be a lot of fun being able to play for a team I grew up watching,” Corey said.
Joining the group is Tyler Smith, a redshirt sophomore at Cuesta College whose path on the field has required perseverance. Originally a catcher, Smith transitioned to pitching after multiple concussions and has since worked his way back from injuries to continue developing on the mound.
“This summer I’m most excited to meet guys from all different levels of baseball and merge together for the common goal of winning,” Smith said.
Returning to Walla Walla is Dylan Torres, a right-handed pitcher from El Paso, Texas who currently plays at Cochise College. Torres made seven appearances out of the bullpen last summer, posting a 2–1 record with a 4.21 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 10.2 innings.
“This summer I’m excited about just having fun playing baseball in front of the fans and enjoying my time with the guys,” Torres said.
Cheeseman, Corey, Smith, and Torres will join the Sweets for West Coast League action, with Walla Walla opening the 2026 season on the road against the Yakima Valley Pippins on May 29 before hosting the Corvallis Knights at Borleske Stadium on June 2.
