Three DI Commits Join the Sweets

The Three Latest Sweets Players Will Find Themselves in the Big Ten Next Year

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Three players committed to Big Ten teams in 2024 are set to join the Sweets this summer. Washington’s Easton O’Neal and UCLA’s David Mysza and Rex Solle are all excited to make the trip to Walla Walla before heading to their DI campuses.

O’Neal is a catcher from Spokane and committed to the Washington Huskies. He will graduate from West Valley High School this year. O’Neal was ranked as the 14th best player overall to come out of the state of Washington in the class of 2024, and the second best catcher. He was also named an 2023 Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-American.

“I can’t wait to play in front of [Sweets fans] this season,” said O’Neal. “I’m excited to see you all at Borleske. Go Sweets!”

Mysza is a middle infielder from Sierra Madre, California, and is committed to the UCLA Bruins. Currently, he plays for the La Salle Lancers. In his senior year, Mysza has collected 20 hits with eight of them for extra bases, five doubles and three home runs. He leads the team with 14 runs scored. On defense, Mysza has yet to commit an error, going 59-for-59 on fielding chances. In his junior season in 2023, Mysza batted .484 in 20 games. Mysza announced his commitment to the Bruins in November of last year.

“I’m very excited to play for the Sweets as a lot of great UCLA players and players in general have played with them,” said Mysza. “I’m excited to play against great competition and venture out into Washington which I’ve never been to before. It should be a productive summer!”

Solle will join Mysza not only in Walla Walla, but also in Los Angeles as he is also a commit to the Bruins. Solle is a third baseman and right handed pitcher for the Redwood Giants out of Larkspur, California. On the mound, Solle is 3-2 and has posted a 1.46 ERA. In 24 innings pitched, he has held opposing batters to just a .148 batting average and recorded 44 strikeouts, the most on the team. At the plate, he is batting .405 and collected 13 RBI. Solle also announced his commitment to UCLA in November of last year.

“I can’t wait to suit up for the Sweets this summer,” said Solle. “The chance to play high level baseball in front of the Walla Walla fans is an honor for me. I’m excited to meet the coaching staff and the rest of the team. This summer season is all about making a positive impact and racking up wins for Walla Walla! Go Sweets!”

The Sweets open their season on the road May 31 and have their first home game June 7 versus the Portland Pickles. Single game tickets are now on sale.
