Soliz’s Season Best Outing Can’t Push Sweets Over Yakima Valley

Sweets Drop Game 1 4-3

WALLA WALLA, WA-  The Sweets would lead for 7.1 innings however would fall 4-3 to Yakima Valley in the first game of the Battle of The Basin. Cameron Soliz had a season best outing striking out six Pippins in six scoreless innings of work.

Maxton Martin drove in the first Sweets run of the day to kick off his eventful evening grounding out to second but scoring Andrew Graham to give Walla Walla a 1-0 lead after two innings. 

Walla Walla wouldn’t find offense for a bit longer however, Kennedy Hara came in to score after starting off the fifth with a double which would help the Sweets extend the lead further. 

Martin reentered the fold in the bottom of the sixth smashing a shot to right center which would stay in play and saw Caleb Gray come in to score as Martin made it 3-0 Walla Walla with the RBI triple.

Walla Walla would hold the lead until Jace Phelan drilled a ball to right field on a no-doubt home run to give the Pippins a 4-3 lead in the 8th which ended up winning it for Yakima.
