Sweets Fall in Series With Portland

Sweets swept in Portland

PORTLAND, Oreg- The Sweets dropped the series finale at Portland 4-0. Portland has now swept the Sweets taking all six games of the season series between the Sweets and Pickles. With the loss, Walla Walla now sits 20-25 five games out of a playoff spot.

The contest followed a similar formula as the previous night with Portland scoring first with Jacob Jablonski grounding to short but driving in a run in the process. That’s all the Pickles would need to win the ball game as the Sweets were held scoreless. The Sweets did not score a run for 26 straight innings after scoring in the top of the first in game one.

A positive for the Sweets was the pitching as Liam Miller started the ball game going three innings and allowing only two earned runs. Zach Hangas also made his debut for Walla Walla going 1.2 innings allowing only one hit and no runs.

The Sweets get set for a huge contest with Corvallis with massive implications regarding the post season. Walla Walla now sits 6.5 games back of Corvallis for the top spot in the 2nd half and sit 5 games back of Bend who currently has the four seed.
