Matt Amrhein grew up in Upland, California and is currently attending California Baptist University.
He went to Damien High School in La Verne, California and was a two sport athlete playing both baseball and football. Amrhein's senior year, he was voted First-Team All-Baseline League and All-Area in both baseball and football.
Amrhein's freshman year at California Baptist, he posted a 4-1 record with a 3.19 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 31 innings.
Now amid his sophomore season, he has a 2.57 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 7 innings.
