Esparza joins the Sweets from the Ottawa Spirit out of Arizona. Esparza started 21 games for the Spirit and caught in another five for a total of 26 games in his sophomore year. At the plate, Esparza collected 16 hits for a batting average of .250. Of those hits, eight went for extra bases with six doubles, a triple and a home run. Behind the dish, Esparza boasted a fielding percentage of .987, with only 3 errors in 228 chances.

This summer will be Esparza's first season in summer baseball.
