Dean's Servite High School team went 19-15 this spring and reached the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Ford Division 1 Championships. Emanuel, from Anaheim Hills, Calif., plans to attend UCLA to further his baseball career. He received national rankings of No. 42 overall and No. 8 among outfielders, and No. 4 overall and No. 1 outfielder, respectively, in California prior to signing with the Bruins.Dean - who obtained All-America acclaim from amateur baseball event provider Perfect Game on three occasions - played in last year's Perfect Game All-America contest in San Diego, and was recognized as a Top Prospect Team member at the 2018 Perfect Game National Showcase. Emanuel is blessed with tremendous power to all fields, UCLA coach John Savage, who guided the Bruins to a No. 1 national ranking and this year's Pacific-12 Conference regular-season title, said on the school web site. Dean's speed and power is rare among young players, Savage said.

Emanuel socked four home runs during his junior year with the Friars. He garnered Trinity League honorable-mention status after hitting .297 against conference foes and achieving a team-leading .486 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage - good for second on the ball club. He had 11 hits, five for extra bases, and drove in eight runs. Not bad for a season Dean called a learning lesson. "Lots of ups and downs," Dean said. "But I got through it and learned from my failures."

As for the Sweets summer season, Dean stated, "It's such an honor and I am blessed to receive this opportunity to play for such a great team."
