WALLA WALLA, Washington – Postseason baseball is returning to Borleske Stadium.

The Walla Walla Sweets clinched a berth in the 2026 West Coast League Playoffs with an 8-6 victory over the Portland Pickles on Friday night, securing the franchise’s first postseason appearance since 2019.

The playoff berth marks just the fourth in franchise history since the Sweets joined the West Coast League in 2010. It also comes in the first season under head coach Leo Rivera, who becomes the third manager in franchise history to lead Walla Walla to the postseason.

The Sweets have spent much of the summer among the top teams in the WCL South Division, fueled by a balanced roster that has featured standout performances throughout the lineup and pitching staff. Walla Walla also tied for the league lead with five West Coast League All-Star selections earlier this month.

With a postseason berth secured, the Sweets now turn their attention to the final five games of the regular season. Walla Walla closes out its final home series this weekend against the Portland Pickles before traveling to Salem, Oregon, for a three-game series against the Marion Berries.

While the playoffs are now guaranteed, the Sweets remain in the hunt for the West Coast League South Division second-half title and the opportunity to earn a higher postseason seed.

Friday’s victory also guarantees that postseason baseball will return to Borleske Stadium. The Sweets will host a West Coast League Divisional Series game on either Friday, Aug. 7, or Saturday, Aug. 8, with game time and opponent to be announced following the conclusion of the regular season.
