Pitching Staff Keeps Sweets Close in One-Run Battle

Walla Walla arms allow four hits, strike out 10 and issue no walks Saturday night

KAMLOOPS, B.C. (June 13, 2026) – Runs were hard to come by Saturday night at Norbrock Stadium, and the Walla Walla Sweets pitching staff did everything it could to keep the club within striking distance.

Trevor Stowe, Alex Cohen and Charlie Seneker combined to allow just one run on four hits, but the Sweets came up short in a 1-0 loss to the Kamloops NorthPaws in game two of the series.

Stowe made his first start since May 2024, dating back to his junior college season, and looked sharp right away. The right-hander gave Walla Walla four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk.

Alex Cohen followed with a clean 2026 debut as a Sweet, working a scoreless fifth inning and keeping the game tied.

Kamloops broke through with the only run of the night in the sixth inning, using a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.

Seneker took over from there and continued his strong start to the summer. The right-hander tossed three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five of the 10 batters he faced. He kept the Sweets close all the way through the late innings and gave the offense a chance to answer.

As a staff, Walla Walla struck out 10 and did not walk a batter, continuing one of the strongest early-season trends for the club’s pitching group.

The Sweets had a few chances offensively, with Trevor Tse collecting Walla Walla’s lone hit of the night. Tse also reached on a hit-by-pitch, while Troy Osborne was hit by a pitch as well. Nate Petz drew a walk, and Bo Stinson added a sacrifice bunt to help move a runner into scoring position.

Walla Walla was held quiet overall, but the pitching staff turned in one of its cleanest games of the week and kept the Sweets in it from start to finish.

The Sweets will close the series and their six-game Canadian road trip Sunday, June 14, against the Kamloops NorthPaws. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. at Norbrock Stadium.
