Sweets Bats Stay Hot, Clinch Second Straight Series Win
Walla Walla racks up 14 hits, steals seven bases and uses an eight-run fourth inning to take down Bend

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (June 6, 2026) – The Walla Walla Sweets have turned Borleske Stadium into a pretty comfortable place to hit.
Behind a 14-hit night and an eight-run fourth inning, the Sweets took down the Bend Elks 10-6 on Saturday night, clinching their second straight series win and continuing a strong first homestand of the summer.
Walla Walla got on the board right away in the first inning. Payton Knowles reached base to start the frame, Sam Kane followed by getting aboard, and Mateo Rickman brought Knowles home with an RBI single to left field to give the Sweets an early 1-0 lead.
Bend moved in front with two runs in the fourth, but the Sweets answered immediately with their biggest inning of the young season.
Bo Stinson and Austin Owens helped get things started, and Knowles tied the game with an RBI single. Moments later, Owens stole home to put Walla Walla back in front, and the offense kept rolling from there.
Kane doubled home Knowles, Landon Young followed with an RBI double, and Rickman added another run-scoring single to make it 6-2. Ethan Buckley brought in a run with a sacrifice fly, Stinson added an RBI single, and Owens reached again to bring home the final run of the inning.
By the time the fourth was over, the Sweets had flipped a one-run deficit into a 9-2 lead.
Walla Walla added one more in the sixth when Andrew Demianew reached and came around to score on Buckley’s second RBI of the night, pushing the lead to 10-2.
The Sweets finished with 14 hits and had production up and down the lineup. Kane led the way with three hits, a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Rickman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Demianew added two hits and scored twice, and Stinson went 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Buckley drove in two runs, while Knowles, Young and Owens each added RBIs. Walla Walla also stayed active on the bases, stealing seven bags as a team, with Young, Stinson and Owens each swiping two.
On the mound, Tre Morse picked up his first win of the season after giving the Sweets four solid innings. He allowed just one earned run while striking out five.
Easton Corey followed with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, striking out two and helping Walla Walla keep control of the game. Jett Walker also finished strong, tossing the final two innings with four strikeouts.
As a staff, the Sweets struck out 12, continuing a strong early-season trend from the pitching group.
With the win, Walla Walla has now clinched back-to-back series after taking the first two games against Bend. The Sweets have also won five of their last six games after dropping the first two games of the season.
The Sweets will close out their first homestand of the summer on Sunday, June 7, against the Bend Elks. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at Borleske Stadium.
