Sweets Stay Hot, Clinch First Series Win of 2026
Walla Walla wins third straight behind 10-hit night and strong work from pitching staff

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (June 3, 2026) – The Walla Walla Sweets are starting to stack wins.
The Sweets picked up their third straight victory Wednesday night at Borleske Stadium, taking down the Corvallis Knights 8-3 to clinch their first series win of the 2026 season.
Walla Walla grabbed the lead early and never gave it back. Payton Knowles opened the bottom of the first by reaching base, and the Sweets pushed him across to take a quick 1-0 lead.
After a couple quiet innings, the offense added on in the fourth. Trevor Tse, Mateo Rickman and Troy Osborne all helped set the table, and Andrew Demianew came through with an RBI single to make it 2-0. Ethan Buckley followed with a run-scoring single of his own, stretching the lead to 3-0.
Corvallis got a run back in the fifth, but the Sweets answered with their biggest inning of the night in the sixth.
Osborne and Demianew got things started before Buckley drove in his second run of the game with a single to center. Isaac Torres then reached to keep the inning moving, and Austin Owens delivered one of the key swings of the night, singling home two runs to push the lead to 6-1.
Tse added another run by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, giving Walla Walla a 7-1 advantage and full control of the game.
The Knights trimmed the lead in the eighth, but the Sweets added one more in the bottom half. Owens scored after Landon Young was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing the score to 8-3.
Walla Walla spread the offense around throughout the night, finishing with 10 hits and seven RBIs from six different players. Demianew led the way with three hits, an RBI and a stolen base, while Buckley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Tse added two hits and drove in a run, and Owens finished with two RBIs while also stealing a base.
Knowles reached three times out of the leadoff spot, and the Sweets also got solid traffic on the bases from Rickman, Osborne and Torres.
On the mound, Anthony Leo gave Walla Walla a strong start, allowing just one run over 4.2 innings while striking out four. Trevor Stowe followed with 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, giving up just one hit and striking out two.
Carson McKinney closed the night with a scoreless ninth, striking out two to finish off the win.
The Sweets pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts, marking another strong night from a group that continues to miss bats early in the season.
After dropping the first two games of opening weekend, Walla Walla has now won three in a row, including back-to-back wins over Corvallis to lock up the club’s first series victory of the summer.
The Sweets will go for the sweep Thursday, June 4, against the Corvallis Knights. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Borleske Stadium.
