Division I Freshmen from William & Mary and GCU Join Sweets
Tribe and Lopes freshmen bring pitching and infield talent to Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Two William & Mary freshmen in left-hander Blake Moore and right-hander Charlie Seneker, along with Grand Canyon University freshmen JT Lewis and Austin Owens, are set to join the Walla Walla Sweets for West Coast League action this summer.
Blake Moore, a left-handed pitcher from California City, California, will enter his freshman year at William & Mary after graduating from California City High School. Moore chose the Tribe for both its baseball culture and academic reputation and is eager to compete in a new region this summer.
“I chose William & Mary because the coaching staff believed in me and I am able to get an elite education,” Moore said. “I’m excited to be able to play in the Pacific Northwest.”
Joining him from William & Mary is Charlie Seneker, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Mercer Island, Washington. A Mercer Island High School graduate, Seneker was drawn to the Tribe’s team culture and the opportunity to compete at a high level while pursuing a strong academic foundation.
“I chose William & Mary because of the culture of the team as well as the unique opportunity to play high level baseball while getting a quality education,” Seneker said. “My dad first got me into baseball when I was a kid and is still my biggest fan. I talk to him before and after every time I throw.”
Helping represent Grand Canyon University is JT Lewis, a freshman left-handed pitcher from Huntington Beach, California. A graduate of Ocean View High School, Lewis felt an immediate connection with the Lopes’ program and is looking forward to his first summer in Walla Walla.
“I chose GCU because the program and school felt like home and I love the players and coaching staff,” Lewis said. “I am super excited to play for Walla Walla and have a memorable summer.”
Also joining the Sweets from Grand Canyon is Austin Owens, a freshman middle infielder from Walnut, California. A Bonita High School product who plays both shortstop and second base, Owens credits his father for shaping his love of the game and was drawn to GCU’s competitive culture.
“The first person to get me into baseball was my father. He taught me everything about the game and gave me the love and the want to play this game every day,” Owens said. “I chose GCU because of the culture they have shown and the grit that they give every day. They play with energy and grit every day, and it was the place I wanted to call home.”
Moore, Seneker, Lewis, and Owens will join the Sweets for West Coast League action, with Walla Walla opening the 2026 season on the road against the Yakima Valley Pippins on May 29 before hosting the Corvallis Knights at Borleske Stadium on June 2.
