Sweets Take Fifth Straight Home Series With 15-3 Win Over Nighthawks
WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Walla Walla Sweets beat the Northwest Star Nighthawks for the second straight night with a 15-3 victory in a non-West Coast League matchup.

After a nine-run blowout on Friday, the Sweets one-upped themselves Saturday with a commanding double-digit win.
In the top of the first inning, Walla Walla starter Owen Godinez worked out of a bases-loaded jam. With one out and the bags full, Godinez notched back-to-back strikeouts to keep the Nighthawks off the board.
The Sweets wasted no time jumping in front. Trevor Tse walked and later scored on a single by Dominic Cadiz, aided by a pitcher error. Following a pair of singles and a passed ball, a balk brought home another run before Nate Stiveson delivered a two-run single to center. By inning’s end, Walla Walla held a 4-0 lead.
The offense kept rolling in the second. Cole Rogers led off with a double, stole third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tse. Jacob Talbot walked, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on another wild pitch to extend the lead to 6-0.
After a scoreless third, Rogers launched his first home run of the season, sending a solo shot over the high wall in left. Rogers finished 3-for-4 with a home run, double, walk, and earned Cascade Natural Gas High Efficiency Player of the Game honors.
The Sweets weren’t done. Cadiz opened the fourth with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nikhil Beasley. Cadiz wrapped his night with a home run shy of the cycle. A walk to Johnny Backus, a single by Owen Estabrook, and a pair of wild pitches tacked on two more, making it 9-0.
The Nighthawks broke through in the fifth. Branson Castleberg singled to lead off, followed by a Ryan Taguchi double and an RBI single from Luke Kovac. Donovan Jackson added a two-run single to cap a three-run frame.
Walla Walla answered back with multi-run innings in the seventh and eighth to seal a 15-3 win on Saturday night.
With the victory, the Sweets clinched their fifth straight home series win and remained undefeated in home series play in 2025.
The series finale is set for Sunday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with coverage live on the Sweets’ YouTube channel starting at 6:15.
