Three Seattle University Players Look Forward to a Sweet Summer
Freshman left-handed pitcher Rowan Haynes, freshman right-handed pitcher Isaac Hallam, and sophomore outfielder Hunter Komine will take the field at Borleske Stadium this summer

WALLA WALLA, Washington – A pair of pitchers and an experienced outfielder from Seattle University are set to bring their talent and versatility to the Walla Walla Sweets.
Haynes, a freshman from San Diego, California, is a left-hander with a high-80s fastball and strong off-speed pitches. Despite just starting his college career, he already has experience in the West Coast League, having played last summer with the Bend Elks. In six appearances, Haynes allowed nine runs over eight innings. He attributes his passion for the game to childhood memories of attending Padres games.
“What made me stick with baseball was going to Padres games with my family. Growing up, I always dreamed about playing at Petco Park, and it’s always driven me to be better,” Haynes said.
Hallam, a right-hander from Issaquah, Washington, was a standout at Issaquah High School, where he posted a 1.39 ERA with 54 strikeouts and earned team MVP honors in both his junior and senior seasons. Standing 6-foot-3, Hallam uses his height to generate a fastball that reaches the low 90s. He has already shined at Seattle University, recording a six-inning, one-run, eight-strikeout performance. Hallam looks forward to the competition the WCL provides.
“I look forward to playing with and against people from different schools and playing in front of crowds. There is so much energy at all of the games,” Hallam said.
Komine, a sophomore outfielder from Mill Creek, Washington, brings elite defense and a right-handed bat to the Sweets. Komine did not give up an error last season with Seattle University in 30 appearances. With nine starts he posted a .216 BA with three RBIs. Komine is no stranger to the WCL, having spent four summers in the league, most recently with Bend, where he posted a .364 batting average. Coming to Walla Walla was an easy decision for him.
“I chose to play for the Sweets because they have a great baseball culture, fun fan base, and a winning mentality,” Komine said.
With Haynes, Hallam, and Komine on board, the Sweets summer is looking like just that, sweet. Fans can catch them in action at Borleske Stadium, with the home opener set for June 6 against the Ridgefield Raptors. Season passes are on sale now.
