WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The West Coast League announced the rosters for the All-Star Game Tuesday morning. Three Sweets were selected to the South All-Star team: Davis Mauzy, Kolby Felix and Liam Hohenstein.

Mauzy has been one of the most consistent bats and gloves for the Sweets this season. Heading into the Ridgefield series, he is batting .326 and riding an eight-game hit streak, one shy of tying the season high for the team. He started the first 14 games in center field for Walla Walla, the longest games played streak to start the season for the Sweets. Mauzy’s on base percentage didn’t dip below .400 until game 15 of the season. His best game of the season was June 2 in the series finale against the Bend Elks. Mauzy went 4-for-6 with five RBI. He was a home run shy of the cycle that game, with singles in the first and eighth, a double in the ninth and a triple in the fourth.

Felix has been the best power hitter for the Sweets. He has all three homers for Walla Walla in West Coast League play, going over the wall in three straight home series. With three home runs, he is tied for the fourth most home runs in the WCL. Heading into the Ridgefield series, he is batting .276, leading the team in home runs, RBI and walks and is tied for the team lead in triples. Felix started the season off with an eight-game on base streak, which included a five-walk game in Portland. In the series against Springfield, Felix brought eight runs, leading the league in RBI that week. Five of those RBI were in one game, when Felix was a homer away from the cycle with a two-RBI double, two-RBI triple and an RBI single.

Hohenstein was selected as one of the 10 pitchers to represent the South Division. He has started six games this season and has posted a 1-1 record with a 3.72 ERA. Hohenstein first start of the season was a quality start against the Bend Elks on June 2, tossing six innings and only allowing three runs while striking out five. The Sweets won the game in the eighth inning, beating the Elks 10-6. Walla Walla won each game of in Hohenstein started. His first decision was June 22 against Wenatchee, tossing five scoreless innings and striking out five. His season high for strikeouts was June 27 against Springfield, punching out eight batters in just four innings.

This is the first time since 2019 the WCL will have an All-Star game, taking a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The All-Star game is Wednesday, June 17, at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham, Washington, home of the Bells. First pitch is set for 6:35 Pacific Time and the game will be broadcast on the MLB Network.
