Sweets Double Up Dudes

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — In their first non-league game of the season, the Sweets scored early and often, breezing past the Redmond Dudes 10-5. The Sweets put up seven runs in the first three innings and cruised from there.

After two runs in the first, the Sweets flexed their muscles in the second frame, bringing home three runs to take a 5-0 lead. Logan Meyer brought home two with a double to left field. He later came into score on a balk by the Redmond pitcher.

In the third, the Sweets increased their lead to seven. Davis Mauzy scored on a sacrifice fly from JJ Moran and Easton O’Neal scored on a wild pitch.

On the mound, Jace Wessels was lights out for his second start of the season. Wessels tossed four innings and only allowed one hit while striking out two batters.

The Dudes fought back and brought home five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it a two run ballgame.

The Sweets responded at the plate though and brought home three more runs to secure the victory.
