WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Sweets’ latest batch of signees are all joining from the same college. Eric Aguayo, Alec Bressler and Jesiah Zamora all hail from the California State University of San Bernardino and are looking to continue what they have done this spring into the summer season.

Aguayo is currently a freshman with the Coyotes and originally hails from Riverside, California. Defensively, he has caught in 11 games and has caught one runner stealing this year. Offensively, in his collegiate debut, Aguayo drew two walks and came into score on both as CSUSB won 21-5.

Aguayo graduated from Martin Luther King High School in Riverside in 2023. He played on the varsity team all four years and posted a career batting average of .310. According to Perfect Game, Aguayo was the 13th highest rated catcher out of California in the class of 2023.

This summer will be Aguayo’s first season of summer collegiate ball.

“I’m super excited to be a Sweet this summer,” said Aguayo. “I think playing in Walla Walla is a great opportunity for me to develop as a player and meet a whole bunch of guys I get to learn from. I can’t wait for my time in Walla Walla and being a Sweet!”

Bressler is a junior infielder with the Coyotes and originally hails from Beaumont, California. This season with CSUSB, he has played in 10 games and has made four starts. His best game this season so far was February 17 against Biola University. Bressler went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run and a walk.

Before joining the Coyotes, Bressler played two seasons for the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles out of the California Community College Athletics Association. In 2023, Bressler appeared in 32 games for the Eagles and batted .351 with 34 hits. Fourteen of those hits went for extra bases with eight doubles, three triples and three home runs.

This summer will be Bressler’s first season of summer collegiate ball.

“I would like to say first and foremost all glory to God! It is an honor to be a Sweet and I am excited to be a part of such an amazing team. I cannot wait to see what we accomplish with such a talented group of guys,” said Bressler.

Zamora is also a freshman with the Coyotes and originally hails from Apple Valley, California. He is a right-handed pitcher who has yet to see action this year for CSUSB.

Zamora graduated from Apple Valley High School in 2023 and was a two-way player for the Sun Devils. In his senior year, Zamora led the team with 71 strikeouts and posted a 3.05 ERA in 15 appearances. At the plate, he batted .373 with 20 RBI and 11 stolen bases. He was named the Pitcher of the Year in his high school’s league and was an All-CIF Selection.

This summer will be Zamora’s first season of summer collegiate ball.

“All glory to Jesus for this opportunity. I’m honestly so grateful that I get the opportunity to play for the Sweets and extremely excited to be playing for an exciting team. I’m ready to play some ball,” said Zamora.

The Sweets start the season on the road May 31 and return to Walla Walla for Opening Night on June 7. Tickets for Opening Night are now on sale.
