Sweets Take Series Finale With Cowlitz

Walla Walla turns to 3-9 with the victory

WALLA WALLA, WA– The Walla Walla Sweets wrapped up their 7 game homestand with a victory as they avoided the sweep by the hands of Cowlitz with a 4-3 win to end the series.

Kennedy Hara brought the Sweets some fire leading off the game with a well pieced up ball to the right center gap but would be thrown out at third trying to extend the double to a lead off triple. However, the Sweets wouldn’t have to wait long til their next extra base hit as Payton Knowles would continue his excellent start with a double one at bat later. Andrew Graham followed up by getting into the two-bag party by shooting one to left center to score Knowles to give Walla Walla a 1-0 lead after the first.

Cowlitz found the answer with a Ian Reilly single, but the Sweets would turn to Mr.Reliable Logan Meyer who grounded out to third to drive in Maxton Martin after a wild pitch would score Manny Casillas to give the Onion Boyz a two run lead after 4.
The Sweets would see the lead be taken away however as Cowlitz found the equalizer in the top of the eighth. But after a lead off walk Kennedy Hara set up with Logan Meyer in scoring position and drove in the Walla Walla Warrior to take the lead in the inning.

After surrendering the lead Josh Aribal wouldn’t let it happen again. Aribal punched out two of the final three batters and left the go-ahead runs stranded to close things out with a win for Walla Walla.
