Sweets Collapse in the Eighth in Finale with Bend
Sweets collapse in Bend to road out the series
BEND, Ore- The Walla Walla Sweets dropped the series finale with the Bend Elks 9-4 as the Sweets let up seven runs in the eighth inning. Walla Walla drops to 12-15 and three games below .500 for the first time this season.
Things looked good to start for Walla Walla as Nick Wilson went five innings allowing only one earned run in his start. Bend would strike first but the Sweets would answer with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead. Walla Walla would take the lead as Jarred Mazzaferro and Cooper Cross would drive in runs for the Sweets.
Mazzaferro would get his second RBI on the day as he drove in Kevin Spear to take 4-2 lead in the sixth.
However, in the eighth things would go hard south for Walla Walla. Kolby Solomon would walk two batters before being taken out and then Riley Kasper would hit a first pitch bomb off of Albert Roblez to start a seven run eighth inning for Bend.
