Walla Walla swings its Way to a Comeback

Walla Walla flipped the script on Kelowna today, scoring seven unanswered to come from behind and win 9-5. On Wednesday night the Falcons came back from a 4-0 deficit and won 7-4.

Today was the second highest scoring game for the Sweets this season. The one game they scored more was back on June 11th in Kelwona - a 10-5 win.

Matt Comer (Treasure Valley) fufilled his role as the number four hitter today. The NWAACC Co-MVP went 2-4 with a double, home run, and four RBI. Three of those RBI came on a three-run big fly in the bottom of the 8th to make life a little more comfortable for the Sweets. The lead went from 6-5 to 9-5 on one swing.

The righty's other RBI came in the bottom of the 1st with a sacrifice fly to score Kevin Kuntz (Kansas), making the score 2-1. The swing really should have scored two runners. It was a sure-fire double into the left-center field gap that Ben Edelstein (UC Santa Barbara) took away with a diving catch.

The Sweets seven run rally received a pretty good nudge from the Falcons pitchers. Kelowna walked nine batters - three of them came into score.

Walla Walla's starter A.J. Burke (Linn-Benton) was okay and did enough to keep the Sweets close. He went 5.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 BB, and 5 K. The two-run home run he gave up in the top of the 5th stretched the Falcons lead to 4-1.

Jacob Overbay (Edmonds) came in and shut down Kelowna. The righty didn't allow a hit until the 8th batter he faced and lowered his ERA from 6.14 to 5.00 with today's outing.
