Master Lou visits from an onion patch far, far away on Saturday, June 17.
As all great events should, the 2017 #SweetsCountry season, powered by Columbia REA, will start with a parade.
The Walla Walla Sweets roster will march down Main Street at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 2, with a police escort and Sweet Lou as the master of ceremonies, inviting the community to join the team at the ballpark early to start summer off the right way. Opening Day, presented by Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Walla Walla, will be just the beginning of what will be an inviting, fun, exciting, and dare we say "sweet" promotional schedule for the 2017 West Coast League season.
“After the winter we’ve experienced, we’re making sure that everyday at Borleske is a celebration of perfect summer nights,” said Sweets president Zachary Fraser. “We have a great roster, we have great sunshine, and we have promotions that will keep everyone excited and engaged. I can’t wait to get started!!”
To keep the whole family entertained, the Sweets have partnered with Jumpin’ Jelly Beanz of Touchet to bring a Sweets Summer Fun Zone to the ballpark on key nights, with expanded games and entertainment options located along the third base line. In addition to bouncy houses, young fans can (for a small fee) enjoy expanded inflatable castles, obstacle courses, face-painting and other great games.
There will be some consistent promotions that will occur each night of the week, starting with Sundays:
Sunday: Sunday Funday and Family Feast presented by your locally owned NAPA Auto Parts: The Sweets have three Sunday games during the 2017 season, and each one will be a great place to spend family time. Families can visit all locally-owned NAPA Auto Parts stores, starting May 15, to pick up coupons redeemable on Sundays for $1 hot dogs, $1 popcorns, $1 soft drinks and $1 ice cream sandwiches. Sundays will also feature the Sweets Summer Fun Zone with Jumpin’ Jelly Beanz. (NOTE: Sunday, June 4 vs. Wenatchee has a 1:05 PM start time). Other Sunday dates include June 18 & July 16, both with 5:05 PM start times.
Monday: Family Evenings @ Home (Plate) presented by Walla Walla Orthodontics: The official orthodontics provider of the Walla Walla Sweets is really stepping up to the plate to make Monday nights at the ballpark the place to be for families. On both June 26 and July 3 (the two Monday night games), if the Sweets scan 1,850 or more into the ballpark, following the conclusion of the game the team will draw for a winning family to give away a $500 Visa gift card (must be present to win). They’ve also provided a special ticket plan to make it easier for families to come to the park: 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, and 2 sodas for $25 for the night. Monday dates include: June 26 and July 3 (yes, the prize contest is in play July 3rd!)
Tuesday: Terrific Tuesdays presented by Gesa Credit Union: purchase tickets online or at the Sweets Shoppe* for all Tuesday games for just $2 (reserved seats), and when you’re in the park, enjoy $2 hot dogs, $2 sodas, and $2 Rolling Rock beers all night long (beer service ending after the 7th inning). When purchasing online, select reserved seats and use code GESAROCKSWW (case sensitive) *NOTE: $2 tickets will not be available at the gate – pre-purchase only!
Wednesday: Wild Wednesday: remember “Deal or No Deal?” We’re bringing it back to Borleske this summer. The moment we scan 1,700 or more into the park, we’ll play “Deal or No Deal” post-game. One of the prizes will be $1,000 Visa Gift Card. A couple of notes: we have to scan 1,700; you have to be present (meaning you can’t leave early); and you’ve got to win the promotional game to get the grand prize. Wednesday dates this year include: June 14, June 21, June 28, July 5, July 12, July 19, and July 26. That is (7) chances to win $1,000!!!
Thursday: Throwback Thursdays: we bring back the 70s-era mustard and brown uniforms themed on the old Walla Walla Padres look. We also will have: Buy One, Get One Reserved tickets online with the code Good_Ol’_Days, and $1 ice cream sandwiches, hot dogs, and cans of soda through the first two innings. Dates include: June 15, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, and July 27.
Chuck-A-Ball, presented by Les Schwab, has returned, with more great prizes and the chance for local non-profits focused on helping children to raise some serious cash. Last year, Chuck-A-Ball raised more than $4,000 for youth sports organizations, the Special Olympics, Friends of Children of Walla Walla and more.
