Greg Shaw is the Senior Director of the office of the CEO for Microsoft. Prior to his return to Microsoft, Greg was the publisher/editor and CEO of Crosscut Public Media, Inc., in Seattle. While at Crosscut, he led all aspects of a small publishing organization founded in 2007. Crosscut is nonpartisan and a self-sustaining small enterprise.
Prior to joining Crosscut, Greg was an executive for 9 years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He reported to the CEO on strategies to deepen and improve relations with grantees and partners, which range from governments to corporations, nonprofits and other foundations. Prior to this assignment Greg oversaw public policy, public affairs and public finance portfolios for U.S. investments, which include education reform, technology access for the poor and Pacific Northwest community giving.
Greg spent six years as a leader in corporate communications at Microsoft. He led corporate communications and brand marketing.
He was a partner with the communications firm of SS+K based in New York City and a Senior Vice President with Ketchum Communications in Washington, D.C.
He served as a speechwriter in the Reagan Administration He began his career as an editor of the Cherokee Advocate, the newspaper serving the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Greg has a B.A. in journalism from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and has served in volunteer posts with the University of Washington, Episcopal Relief and Development, the United Way, YMCA and various city, county and state government appointment.
He lives in Bellevue, Washington, with his wife and two children.
