Ben FarberPlay-by-Play Broadcaster, Media Relations Coordinator
Ben Farber recently graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN with a degree in media and cultural studies. The 23-year-old New York native has been an avid fan of baseball and sports in general since the turn of the millennium. Unfortunately, he is a big-time Yankees fan. Ben was a Division III college pitcher at Macalester during his first two years before leaving the playing field to pursue opportunities in writing and broadcasting.
While interning for LIU-Brooklyn his junior year, Ben had the opportunity to broadcast a pair of basketball games against Mount St. Mary’s at the Barclays Center. He loved the work immediately and began looking for more opportunities to get behind the mic.
Since then, Ben has worked for many different organizations. He spent the last two summers in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, first as the Official Scorer and Statistician for the Plymouth Pilgrims, and last summer as the Play-by-Play Broadcaster and team writer for the New Bedford Bay Sox. He has written for Pinstripe Alley, SB Nation’s New York Yankees site, as well as 27 Outs, a site dedicated to comprehensive coverage of Minor League Baseball. Currently, he covers high school sports in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Outside of sports, Ben is passionate about music, current events, and travel. He hopes to eventually visit every continent.
